They call it the Playground of Presidents. Rancho Mirage, in the heart
of the world-renowned Palm Springs area, is the ideal desert destination. Its superb climate and stunning natural beauty make it an
international favorite. In prestigious Rancho Mirage you will find more golf courses than neighboring Palm Springs as you drive along palm
tree lined avenues named after Bob Hope, Dinah Shore, Frank Sinatra, Ginger Rogers and Gerald Ford.
Rancho Mirage ranks as one of the Coachella Valley's wealthiest communities with a
standard of living that just seems to get better and better. In addition to its many fine shops, gourmet restaurants and exclusive country clubs, Rancho Mirage is the home of the
Eisenhower Medical Center and the Betty Ford Center.
An excellent par-70 course with tricky holes, bunkers, out of bounds and water to make the
course play tougher than you might think. The fun starts on the first hole, a short par-4 with a
dogleg to the right. A big drive that doesn't play for the dogleg and reach the street beyond a
wall won't work. A shorter drive that bends to the dogleg is much better. The second hole continues the trend of tricky holes, requiring just a 101-yard shot to a large green, but with
bunkers and slopes around the green. The course features seven lakes that come into play on nine holes. The second and 15th holes, both par-3s, can torment players with water. On the
par-4s, much of the water comes into play off the tee to the right of the fairways.
Players can attack the two par-5s, both under 500 yards. The course gets some of the shots
back on the lengthy par-4s. The seventh is one of the toughest holes in the desert, measuring 469 yards with water down the right side of the fairway. Even the shorter par-4s can be
tough with water and bunkers protecting the greens.
