Designed by Michael Hurzdan, (Golf Course Architect of the Year), Dana Frye and PGA Professional, John Cook, Desert Willow's two 18-hole Championship courses offer a
challenging yet rewarding experience for golfers of all levels.
Both the Firecliff and Mountain View courses test the character and skill of players regardless
of which one of the five sets of tees is selected for play. Lush desert landscaping, panoramic mountain vistas, numerous water features and extensive use of bunkers make a trip to Desert
Willow one not soon forgotten.
Since opening day the Firecliff course has received numerous awards and recognition for its
unique and challenging design. Recently selected by Golf Digest as one of "The Places To
Play", this tournament tested layout is one of only three courses in California and one of the best 50 in the United States to receive this designation in terms of conditioning.
Featured on the cover of Smithsonian Magazine as well as in National Geographic Traveler
for its environmentally sound design and construction, Firecliff has attracted tournaments such as the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Classic, Subaru Southern California Team Championship, and
Pepsi Tour events. In November, The Prestige at Palm Desert, an official NCAA event, will feature sixteen of the top universities in the country including Stanford, UCLA, Washington,
Yale, Rice, Pepperdine and Northwestern.
The course features more than 100 bunkers, expansive desert areas, undulating greens and 5 holes that bring water into play. With 5 sets of tees, Firecliff can play from 5079 yards to
7056 yards with the most difficult hole being number 4 - a 446 yd. par 4.
All golf carts at Desert Willow are equipped with a GPS system designed to provide a more
enjoyable experience and maintain a desired rate-of-play.
