 One of the newest and hottest venues on the golf scene is Boulder Creek Golf Club. The 27-hole course has had nothing
but rave reviews in the concept stage. Included in the design is a lighted nine-hole par-3 course, a lit driving range for nighttime
practice and junior programs, making Boulder Creek a paradise for golfer's of all abilities. It is surely a must-play course for locals and visitors alike.
The main attraction is the 27-hole diverse design by Mark Rathert. The course is expected to top out at about 7,600 yards from the championship tees, but six sets of tees make it
playable for everyone. The course features bentgrass greens and Tiffsport on fairways and tees. Tiffsport grass has been used in the Southwest, but never before in Las Vegas. It has a
higher tolerance in the winter and an easier transition in spring. Featuring 27 holes, public play at Boulder Creek
will never be closed down for over seeding, because there will always be 18 holes open for play, which is a big selling point during over seeding season.
"The No. 1 thing we're trying to get across to people is it's going to be a championship-quality golf club at
affordable prices," says Scott Jones, general manager. In addition, the Boulder Creek Golf Club is only 29 minutes
from the Strip and the airport, making it the perfect place for a golf outing.
The course also offers a unique feature in that each nine will start off with oasis-like surroundings, including palm trees and white-sand bunkers.
As golfers progress through the nine, they will be treated to arroyo holes complete with risk-reward features
including split fairways, desert holes that are highlighted by transition bunkers and native vegetation and return to oasis holes by the clubhouse to complete the nine holes.
It's a golfing experience that Jones is sure will have players returning for more.
Water will come into play on six holes, accompanied by plenty of sand, making the round a little more challenging
for golfers. A large driving range will feature instruction at both ends and a special area set aside to help players in honing their short game.
The clubhouse is also top of the line and is the perfect place for golfers to relax after their round, as well as the
perfect spot for banquets, meetings and wedding receptions.
